  Old Bible Student Hunts Me Down

  when i first got the courage to sign up to jwd all sorts of emotions flooded in.

  mostly i was angry at having wasted years of my life struggling to please the watchtower society and god.

  in one of my first posts i asked if anyone had gone and apologised to former bible students for teaching them lies, and i thought perhaps i should.

  So what random rules did YOUR elders impose?

  every cong has them, the petty dictators who make up arbitrary rules and insist that the rank and file follow them or pay the penalty.

  a couple mine had - sisters could not have skirts that were either too short (above the knee) or too long, below the mid-calf - either extreme was worldly.

  also, in order to have privileges (cause there were so many wonderful and fulfilling things for women in the borg) sisters must wear pantyhose.

  For bros: No purple suits, no white suits. Don't care if it's all you can afford.

  No noisy cars.

  No side jobs at home (my husband was a mechanic), because you'll be distracted.

  (We drove a 69 El Camino to the meetings that we had restored, it had Flowmasters and was not 'noisy' - it was cool. We couldn't afford a newer car because my husband had to stop doing side jobs. There's no winning when the rules start flying.)

  i have to give her credit that at least she is willing to discuss the misgivings i have with the wts.

  up to this point i have not.

  openly stated my disbelief in the jw theology and thinks some of my attitude is just the libertarian streak in me.

  ANyone who ever pioneered or built KH recalls the loyalty oath on the application that specifically requires adherence to the organization directed by the FDS and to the truth from the Bible, as explained and taught by JWs. Does anyone have an app around that could supply complete and accurate wording?

  my best friend and his wife had hired an elder to do some refinishing work in their basement.

  they kept their tv and vhs tapes (pre dvd era) down there.

  it seems dear brother was a bit of a nosy fella, so he just happened to pop in one of their home movies of a trip they had taken to cuba and found some footage of my friend smoking a cigar.

  Do you find that JW's talk about the "UN" in a bad way like they use to?

  i think that jw's studying the revelation grand climax book again for the 4th time is preparing the jw's for a "new light" to come out.

  i feel that maybe they will say that they were wrong about the un being the beast of rev and now they believe that the un is actually being used by jehovah and jesus to help the preaching work to be accomplished.

  In response to my UN presentation to my elder dad, he said that the UN has done many good things in the world, and so what if the witnesses used the library. I thought. . .what did I miss here? is she a many-headed-dragon riding whore OR NOT??!!?!?!

  i found this website a few days ago, and ive stayed up until 3 and 4 a.m. every night since reading the all-too-familiar stories.

  i applaud you for sharing your stories and being so open and caring to others who venture onto this site.

  i wish id had you 9 years ago when i was dfd.

  UN-BE-FLIPPING-LIEVABLE chance JW meeting moments ago...

  this is trippy.... the set-up: every weekend, 45 weekends per year, a company flies me to a different city in the u.s., and has me lead group presentations to families of college-bound high school students.

  we then offer to sell them our college preparation program.. a few weekends ago we were in fresno, california.

  he asked which organization it was.

  Need some educating on this one

  as some of you know i am now managing a new shop ( i managed this place for 3 years in the past).

  it is owned by a fellow from ethiopia and he and i get along just great and i am paid very well.. just one problem he doesn't like blacks.

  How I feel after 2 years blinder free (32 years with 'em)

  i cut this out of a letter i wrote to someone close to me, thought it might be good to post.. its hard to me to express myself verbally, thats no secret.

  but why may be a bit of a mystery, maybe hell, we both know it is.

  the only way i know to explain it is perhaps to refer to something else.

  JWs: Saying One Thing But Doing Another

  jws say to do research in society publications and the bible but when you do research and see something that doesn't make sense that is being taught, and you question it----you are told not to research and leave things in jehovah's hands so that he can help you to understand things according to his will.

  if you research or even read an older publication printed by "the slave", and you express that there is a different thought or viewpoint or even a "flip-flop" in understanding, you will be counseled to keep such observations to yourself.. have you seen examples of jws telling you to do one thing but in reality doing just the opposite?.

  THE single funniest damn thing on earth - I read the jingle/rhyme inserted by Confession. I may never read anything else again.

  I am emailing it to my JW family, they love to send me little snippets of stupidity forwarded around by other Hohos.
